European optical technology leader ams OSRAM announced the appointment of Ashkan Seyedi as Vice President and General Manager of the Optical Interconnect business line.

Seyedi previously served as Director of Optical Interconnect Products at NVIDIA, where he led the full-spectrum delivery of silicon photonics co-packaged optics(CPO) solutions. Before NVIDIA, he held roles at Intel and HPE, and spent nearly seven years at HP Labs researching silicon photonics. He holds dual bachelor's degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Columbia University and earned his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.

The appointment is seen as a strategic signal that ams OSRAM is entering the data center CPO market with VCSEL-based technology.
