Apple announced the appointment of Carol Surface as Chief People Officer (CPO), a newly created position at the company.

Surface previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Medtronic for nearly 10 years, and also held positions at Best Buy and PepsiCo.

She will lead the human resources function and report directly to CEO Tim Cook.
