Intel announced that Pat Gelsinger has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

Gelsinger previously served as CEO of VMware and COO of EMC. Earlier in his career, he joined Intel and served as its first Chief Technology Officer.

He will lead Intel's acceleration of innovation and drive the transition from a CPU company to a multi-architecture XPU company.
